Silk Road News Agency, Bishkek, November 15 (Kabar News Agency) – The newly built waste treatment plant in Bishkek officially launched its first pilot transfer operation for solid waste on November 14. Kyrgyz Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision Medel Mashiev, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev, and other officials attended the launch ceremony.
This pilot project involved 17 specialized vehicles, transporting a total of 126 tons of household waste. The waste-to-energy program will officially begin once the total amount of waste processed reaches 1,000 tons.
Abek Zhunushaliyev inspected the project's construction progress and learned about the advancements in building installation and commissioning. The factory is currently in its final stages of construction and is scheduled to officially commence production on December 26, 2025.
Previously reported, in November 2023, Abek Zhunushaliyev and Dai Daoguo, General Manager of Junxin Environmental Protection Joint-Stock Company, signed a cooperation agreement on utilizing waste incineration for power generation.
According to Kyrgyz Cabinet Resolution No. 113 of March 28, 2024, the project has a total investment of US$95 million and, upon completion, will significantly enhance Bishkek's waste treatment capacity and achieve energy conversion.
