Domestic garbage classification has also begun. The subsequent landfill waste may be some garbage that cannot be recycled or burned. Unclassified garbage, after being landfilled, generally has the following situations (provided that it is legally landfilled)
Biomass waste (such as urban biomass waste, kitchen waste, urban manure, etc.) is gradually decomposed by microorganisms over time and eventually becomes a part of the soil and gas. It will slowly disappear. But in general, this type of garbage is recycled and reused, such as composting or biogas utilization.
Plastic waste is difficult to degrade. So it will remain in the soil for hundreds of years. There is a high possibility that it will be excavated in many years and will be the original model. This is also the reason why we strongly advocate reducing the use of disposable shopping bags, lunch boxes, and other waste. Burning these garbage will produce toxic gases (which will disappear after reaching a certain high temperature), burying them will occupy land, and it is still very troublesome to handle. (However, in the past decade, there have been more and more examples of landfill sites being reused. For example, landfills bury waste in a closed manner to ensure that harmful substances do not leak out, and public facilities such as parks and amusement parks are built above to minimize buried waste.) Moreover, these plastic products are all sourced from fossil fuels. For non renewable fossil fuels, large-scale production and consumption also pose a certain energy crisis.
Paper and other combustible waste, as they are made of wood, are equivalent to disguised biomass waste. So it will slowly decompose over time, but the speed is very slow, and it is usually directly incinerated or recycled for reuse. If discarded together with other garbage, it will be in a state of disrepair after many years. It will completely disappear in a few hundred years.
Medical waste and other hazardous waste are generally sealed after undergoing acid-base comprehensive tests using chemical reagents to confirm their non toxicity. We have our own strict processing system. Most other hazardous waste is also sealed, otherwise it will cause environmental problems such as soil pollution and groundwater pollution through the soil. It is generally recommended not to dig it out and look at it. Maybe it will be poisoned.
